LO2: SWOT analysis

SWOT Analysis:

Summary Of Narrative:

The purpose of the animation is to be an informative and fun way to allow people to learn about the environment. The animation will educate the audience using visual media, it aims to teach younger generations about the important of caring for the environment.

Strengths:

The animation uses visuals to allow the audience to clearly understand the purpose and the animation that is on screen. The narrative has been designed to tell a story with a basic introduction and example of the damage that is being caused and then solutions that the audience can follow and act on. I am following Todorov's narrative theory.

Another strength of the animation that it involves 2 styles of animation which allows me to convey the message of the animation more clearly to the audience. These are traditional cell animation as well as using 3D animation to allow me to use the visual elements to most effectively to convey the narrative.

The animation uses both audio and visual to convey the narrative, this will allow the animation to be played and understood by a wider variety of people.

The animation serves as a suitable and correct fact source which will help the audiences know the facts about the subject and will stop as much misinformation from being spread.

Weaknesses:

One of the weaknesses of the animation is that I used amateur voice actors, this means that the animation will not be as professional as it could be. The narrators that I used have not been trained in how to record audio and this meant that the sound for the animation is not of a professional quality.

Another weakness of the animation is that the animation themselves are not of a professional quality which will detract from the final effect of the animation. They have also been done within a restricted time frame which means that they are not as good as they could be.

The subject matter may be boring to younger audiences and they may lose interest in the video and meaning that they will not learn anything or absorb the information in the video.

Opportunities:

I could publish the animation to YouTube as well as turning the animation into a series about various other informative topics. This will increase the exposure of the animation. I will also be able to practice and improve the animations for each animation that I will make for the series. 3 parts series with bite size chunks of information.

Getting collaborations with other animators and actors to create the new episodes. This would then allow for synergy to allow for cross promotion by using the actors and the people involved social media.

Threats:

There are too many animations on the same subject matter which would mean that the animation would be vastly limited in terms of the scope that it would reach. Another threat to the product is that the way that the product is distributed, because the product is only going to be placed on youtube I will need to either use a already popular channel or run the risk of not getting any exposure because the animation is only one video and the algorithm requires more than one video to promote the channel.
